Franchisee Requirements

The Discovery Process
Do you have what it takes to Own Your Own ER™?
The answer to that question will require you, in part, to look within yourself. Owning and operating your own ConciER™ free-standing emergency department (FSED) takes long hours and requires you to develop business and leadership skills beyond the formal technical skills that you have already developed as a physician. Even with the help of your support staff and the ConciER team, you will need to invest time weekly to build and manage your practice. Your practice growth will be determined, in part, by your skill, your effort, and your choices.
Before you decide to join the ConciER™ FSED franchise system, we encourage you to get to know more about us. Learn more about our business model and the support we offer. During the discovery process, we encourage you to reflect whether the ConciER FSED model fits your skills and your goals. During this period of mutual evaluation, we will also evaluate whether you fit our criteria.
Key Traits of Owners
The successful ConciER™ FSED physician owner will share our network’s values and embody our culture.
Core Values
Our Values | Our Actions |
|---|---|
| Initiative | "Do what needs to be done; meet challenges head-on." |
| Integrity | "Keep your word, and treat others fairly." |
| Teamwork | "Work with each other, not against each other." |
| Stewardship | "Care for others and respect their trust." |
| Quality-Oriented | "Do your best and then make it better." |
These values form the basis for our actions, and they serve as the foundation necessary to operate a successful free-standing emergency department.
Physician Owners
The table below describes some of the basic characteristics that ConciER looks for within the physicians who own and operate their own ConciER™ FSED facilities.
Characteristic | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Board-Certified ER Physicians | We prefer that physician-owners hold board certification in emergency medicine or equivalent experience. |
| Experience | We prefer physician-owners who have at least 5 years of experience in the practice of emergency medicine. Physicians who have fewer years of experience may be accepted as part of an ownership team. |
| Focus on Patient Care | We’re looking for physician-owners who want to deliver optimal care to patients within a FSED environment. |
| Owner Operators | We’re committed to building facilities where physician-owners know and actively work alongside their employees. As a physician-owner, you must regularly work in your ConciER™ FSED facility. |
| Medical Director | An experienced physician-owner must serve as Medical Director for each ConciER FSED facility. The Medical Director will take on additional business and leadership duties in managing the facility – see next tab. |
The ConciER™ FSED Medical Director
ConciER requires that each facility must have a qualified physician owner who serves as the Medical Director of the facility and works at the location. This Medical Director leads all medical practices within the franchise facility and also coordinates with ConciER’s Chief Medical Officer.
Characteristic | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Medical Management | ConciER will train your office administrator to handle administrative matters, but each facility needs a physician-owner in charge of making medical practice decisions. The Medical Director is the person who will actually run the franchise unit. |
| The Face of the Business | The Medical Director will serve as the face of the business . He or she will be the primary point of contact for ConciER corporate, ConciER MSO, vendors, the local media, and the public. |
| Leadership and Business Skills | The Medical Director will receive training to develop the business leadership and business skills needed to successfully manage the unit. |
| Ownership | The Medical Director must be an owner in the business. |
Non-Physician Owners
In some facilities, one or more non-physicians may hold an ownership share in a franchise. However, we’re committed to the principle of physician-owned and physician-operated FSED facilities. Therefore, physicians must have a stake in their own success. Each franchise must have at least one physician-owner who serves as Medical Director.
